T.O.U.C.H Outreach works to transform community safety and spaces in Minneapolis, through a variety of strategies focused on youth development and creating a sense of security in the community through authentic relationship building and consistency. T.O.U.C.H Outreach expertise comes in the wide array of areas such as: street outreach, community engagement, gun violence prevention, employment, mentoring, and youth services.
The vision of T.O.U.C.H Outreach is to remain grounded in person-to-person engagement, relationship building, leadership development and violence prevention. T.O.U.C.H Outreach seeks to produce a community where engaged and empowered people come together to address and identify issues of concern, and harness all the good that resides within the community. With our daily outreach we actively work to mediate conflicts and prevent retaliatory violence between those who are at-risk to commit or become the victims of gun violence. Daily we work to bridge the gap between neighbors and connect youth to caring adults and activities. We offer a free and safe open gym at South High School every Saturday and Sunday 2-5pm.
T.O.U.C.H Outreach and CNO believes that one of the best ways to prevent crime is to provide more resources and support to low-income communities. Because violence is such a complex issue, it requires a comprehensive and multifaceted approach. Our goals are increase partnerships and collaborations work more effectively with community and others rather than individual efforts alone. We must all be retaught the expectations of our community and social groups and we believe that by being in community daily it will aid in acquiring the skills and understandings to take our respective places throughout. Since there can be no such thing as a stress-free society, every social group must manage stress; play and companionship we believe that by engaging in community in a fun and safe way you practice stress management and settle disagreements and conflict differently. We want to create the bridge for settling things differently by simply sharing a laugh or moment with your fellow neighbor.
