Corcoran Watch February Update

We are still at the beginning of 2016 and this is a good time to remind people that they can sign up for crime alerts from the Minneapolis Police. All you need is an email account and you can sign up at: http://www.minneapolismn.gov/police/crimealert/index.htm

Cold harsh weather can be rough on anyone, but especially those in need who may be living on the street. If you see someone in need, you can contact the people at St. Stephens Street Outreach. CERT Disaster Preparedness Tip of the Month

This month will be a re-use of last issue's winter preparedness tips for traveling and commuting. When traveling by car keep a winter survival kit in your that contains at leas the following:

  • Coffee can or similar metal container that within holds: candle, matches, chocolate bar (or similar energy source). The coffee can can be used to shovel snow out from around and under tires, or be used with the candle to melt snow to drink.
  • A container of cat litter or sand. This is will help provide traction under tires.
  • Flash light with batteries.
  • Cell phone to call for help.
