Opening Day at the Midtown Farmers Market is right around the corner, so save the date: May 6^th is Opening Day at the Midtown Farmers Market! The Market will return for its 15^th Anniversary season at 2225 E. Lake Street in our same interim location as last year, near the corner of E. Lake St. and Hiawatha Ave that will eventually become the permanent home of the Market. See the image below for exact location details. This season we will be operating with the new Hennepin County Human Services Center as our neighbor, and we have lots of exciting activities, entertainment, events and vendors lined up for a monumental 15^th season of bringing fresh, local flavor to all!

A few exciting events we have planned for this upcoming season include an Opening Day Food Truck Fest on May 6^th, which will include some of our regular food truck vendors like Kabomelette and the Moral Omnivore, and MidNord Empanada Truck along with some new and exciting trucks as well!

The market will also be partnering with Memorial Blood Centers to hold a blood drive on Opening Day, so please think about contributing to help those in need. There will be plenty of great entertainment and activities for everyone as well, including 2^nd Saturday Children’s Activities, Market Science demonstrations and activities, Midtown Flavors Cooking Demos, two more Blood Drives with Memorial Blood Centers over the course of the summer, dance performances, and of course weekly music on the market stage. Our Summer Poetry Series will also be returning in 2017 thanks to a sponsorship from Wellington Management. Poetry will be performed on Youth Leadership Day, as well as on our culturally themed celebrations listed below.

Patrons will also have access to additional parking this season in the parking ramp directly south of the Hennepin County Human Services Center and to the west of Minneapolis Public Schools Adult Basic Education building. The market will be accessible from the ramp via a walkway to the north of the MPS building. Market staff and volunteers have been hard at work over the winter making sure this year is a great one! We’re excited to kick off the 2017 season with a bang and to see the many familiar faces that frequent the market each week, so come visit us each Saturday, all summer long!
