Housing Committee

housingThese residents strive to protect and improve our housing stock, and consider housing-related development and variance requests. Find meeting times.

Housing Committee members:

  • Help to resolve nuisance issues that threaten neighborhood housing.
  • Attract prospective new home buyers to the Corcoran neighborhood and help shorten the vacancy period for foreclosed housing.
  • Help to maintain, improve, and make more energy efficient the Corcoran neighborhood's housing stock.
  • Foster participation by Corcoran residents and business owners in housing issues and decisions in the neighborhood.
  • Goals established by the committee and the CNO board are available here.
  • Membership criteria established by the committee and the CNO board: An individual who resides in the Corcoran neighborhood and is 18 years of age or older is eligible to serve on the Housing Committee. In order to vote at a committee meeting, a committee member must have attended at least two meetings of the committee within the past year (as evidenced by the attendance lists for those meetings) prior to the meeting when the member first votes.
Current home improvment programs available to Corcoran residents:
  • Home Improvement, Homebuyer funds available in Corcoran Learn more.
  • CNO mini grants ($175) now available for Corcoran participants of Community Energy Services. Learn more.
  • Community Energy Services, a comprehensive one-stop residential energy program offered by Center for Energy and Environment in partnership with CNO, CenterPoint, and Xcel Energy. Learn more.
  • Additional home fix-up funds are offered by Center for Energy and Environment, a non-profit. Visit the CEE website to learn more.
  • Worried about your Mortgage? Find resources to help.
  • Hearts & Hammers - Twin Cities, Inc. is a private non-profit organization that provides exterior painting and home improvement assistance for senior and physically disabled homeowners. Assistance is provided at no cost and is completed during Program Day events in May and September. Learn more and apply at their website.
  • Metro Paint-A-Thon, a program of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches, rallies volunteer teams each year in August to paint the homes of low-income seniors and people with disabilities. Learn more and apply at their website.
