Corcoran Neighborhood Annual Book & Bake Sale
Winter weather often makes me want to curl up with a good book and hibernate. The Corcoran Neighborhood Book and Bake Sale, being held on January 23rd 2016, is a great opportunity to clear out your bookshelves and then restock to get you through until spring. It’s also a fun chance to reconnect with your neighbors outside of shoveling sidewalks.
Your donated used books are needed! Books can be dropped off at CNO, 3451 Cedar, between now and January 18 (except from December 23-January 3). Corcoran Park (3334 20th Avenue) is also a drop off site! There is a box across from the front desk. The Park hours are Monday-Thursday 3-9pm and Friday 3-6pm. We will not accept textbooks, encyclopedias, or magazines.
Last year’s Book and Bake Sale brought in hundreds of donated books and dozens of delicious cookies, muffins, and caramel rolls. Besides books and tasty treats, there is also a drawing! In the past, local businesses, including Matt’s Bar, have donated gift certificates. The 2015 sale raised about $1500 and we hope to beat that this year with a $2000 fundraising goal. All proceeds benefit Corcoran Neighborhood Organization.
Other than stopping by and shopping, there are many ways for you to take part in this bit of warmth in the cold and darkness. If you are a talented (or even semi-talented) baker, you can sign up to bring your baked goodies. Volunteers will also be needed in the days leading up to the sale to sort and arrange books. On January 23, we will need folks to man the cash register and greet their neighbors as they shop. And, of course, you can always stop by the sale and shop!
