Learn how neighborhoods can use the law at a free training

wild turkeyThe Minnesota Center for Neighborhood Organizing invites you to explore how neighborhoods can use the law. This free training for neighborhood staff and volunteers will provide practical information and materials that you can use. For instance: you want to find out what the law is, but you don't know where look; laws are being broken, hurting the community, but no one will enforce them; you want to propose a new law that will benefit the neighborhood but you don't know where to start; outside entities are trying to intimidate your neighborhood using the threat of lawsuits and it is undermining community involvement. Hear first-hand from neighborhood organizations who have successfully used the law to fight for their neighborhoods, and lawyers who have worked with neighborhood groups on community concerns. The training will take place on Thursday, December 4th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, Humphrey Center Room 60, 301 19th Ave. S. For more information please contact Jay Clark at 612-625-2513.

Avoid a heating shutoff this winter

Are you worried that your natural gas service may be discontinued this winter? Contact CenterPoint Energy immediately to establish a Cold Weather Rule (CWR) payment plan. The CWR protects residential customers from having their natural gas service disconnected between Oct. 15 and April 15. This rule cannot prevent disconnection in every circumstance, but does provide customers with extra protection against unforeseen financial problems. Click here to learn more or contact CenterPoint’s customer service center at 612-372-4680.
