Radio Show Will Discuss Future of Neighborhood Organizations

On Wednesday, November 14 at 11:00 am, tune your radio to KFAI 90.3 FM in Minneapolis to hear a conversation about the future of the Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP), the primary funding source for Corcoran and other Minneapolis neighborhood organizations. The hosts of the Truth To Tell program will lead a conversation with NRP Executive Director Bob Miller and board member Debbie Evans, along with Mayor R.T. Rybak, who wishes to dismantle the NRP. EPA Continues Cleanup, Informational Meetings

Arsenic-tainted soil will be hauled away from the yards of 400 to 500 more homes in south Minneapolis, tripling the size of a toxic cleanup from a former pesticide plant. This Tuesday (Nov. 13), Wednesday, and Thursday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold several public meetings where you can learn more. Committees Will Discuss 3-Acre Auction, Foreclosures

At their November 19 meeting at 6:00 pm at CNO, the Housing and Land Use & Transportation Committees will continue a discussion on the vacant 3-acre parcel between 31st and 32nd Streets at Hiawatha. Known as the “31st Street Triangle,” the land will be auctioned by the Met Council. The committees will also discuss foreclosed and distressed housing in the neighborhood.

Help Needed to Plan Volunteer Dinner, other events

More volunteers are needed as CNO’s Events Committee begins planning for Corcoran’s annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner scheduled for February 2008. The committee will meet this Wednesday, November 14, 6:00 pm at CNO (please note the time change: in the November Corcoran News, the meeting was publicized for the 21st). The last event, an October 26 Wine Tasting benefit, drew 25 attendees and raised $240 for neighborhood programs.
