Free giveaways and seminar could lower your winter bills In addition to crime prevention, the November 10 General Membership meeting will include a seminar on preparing your home for the winter heating season. Winterizing expert and Corcoran resident Jim Walsh will share simple and inexpensive things you can do immediately to cool off your heating bills this winter. There will be a number of energy saving giveaway items for Corcoran attendees including programmable thermostats, window insulation kits, L.E.D. night lights, high efficiency shower heads, and much more. Center for Energy and Environment will be on hand with information about home fix-up programs. |
Help create the year in photos for Corcoran, in Technicolor The next issue of the Corcoran News, your neighborhood newspaper, will feature color photographs highlighting the year in people and events in our neighborhood. Do you have photos you’d like to share? Please contact Eric at CNO. Also consider attending the next News Team meeting on Tuesday, November 11 at 6:30 pm at CNO. This volunteer team meets monthly to create the newspaper and will continue to seek submissions or ideas for articles (Download submission guidelines here), writers, photographers, copy-editors and layout personnel, as well as opinion letters or input on the paper. |

Check out the Green Gifts Fair at Global Market Kick-off this holiday season by going green at the 3rd Annual Green Gifts Fair. The Fair will take place Saturday, November 15, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Midtown Global Market (10th and Lake Street). Shop 40+ local retailers and artists for green, recycled, and organic gifts. Learn about green holiday decorating, wrapping, and food and party ideas. Eat a local lunch at many of the restaurants at the market. Celebrate the new 2009 Do It Green! Magazine’s kick-off, attend an eco fashion show, and listen to local musicians. |
Help plan the next Volunteer Recognition Dinner On Wednesday, November 19, 5:30 pm at CNO, the Events committee begin work on the annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner (VRD), planned for February 2009 at Corcoran Park. Are you a neighborhood volunteer? If so, the VRD is all about you, so help put it together. If you haven’t had an opportunity to volunteer this year, but wish to help recognize those who have, please help plan this great event for the volunteers.
