Tighten Up Against Neighborhood Burglaries

Burglaries in the 3rd precinct are up 85% this year and Inspector Lucy Gerold wants your help in preventing them. "Lock up and close up." she says. "More than 30 percent of our burglaries are unforced." Make your home look occupied. Install deadbolts on home and garage doors. Use window pins, track fillers, or additional locks to prevent windows from being opened more than 6 inches.

Greenway Bridge Over Hiawatha Opens This Week

The final development phase of the Midtown Greenway bicycle and pedestrian trail is a unique bridge over Hiawatha Avenue, and this incredible bridge is now complete! The public is invited to an opening ceremony from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Thursday, November 8. A short program at 4:30 will culminate with the lighting of the bridge. "It’s a beautiful, functional design that will make everyone’s travel on the Greenway safer," says Nate Kerr of the Midtown Greenway Coalition.

Bring Art to your Table and Food to the Community

Pick out a handmade bowl, make a free-will donation, enjoy homemade soup and leave with your empty bowl – a reminder of hunger in our own neighborhood. Proceeds of Powderhorn Empty Bowls will benefit the food shelf at the Division of Indian Work and the Kids’ Cafe sponsored by the Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association. Empty Bowls happens at Powderhorn Park (3400 15th Ave S) on Friday, November 9 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
