Calling All Volunteers: Help Finish the Final Mural of 2007

Help put the ‘community’ in Corcoran’s community mural project this Saturday, October 20 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Way We Move, a mural that explores the history of travel on Lake Street, got a great start last weekend, but damp weather and low volunteer turnout delayed its completion. KSTP Channel 5 interviewed painters and ran this new story.

If you’re reading this newsletter, we need you this Saturday, October 20 to help finish Corcoran’s final mural of 2007! Even an hour of your time will be very helpful, and no experience is necessary. Bring your friends and neighbors—especially young people. It all happens at Maaco Auto Center, 2005 East Lake Street.

The Way We Move is mural number 3 of 10 in a yearlong Corcoran Youth Mural project led by artist Elise Kyllo and CNO. The project is made possible by many, many volunteers, the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council through an appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature, and paint provided by Valspar. October 6 Book Sale Was a Big Success

The 2007 Corcoran neighborhood Book Sale was a great success! More than one hundred people browsed the wide selection of books, snacked on baked goods donated by residents Gwen McMahon and Cyndi Butler, and visited with neighbors. Over $1,400 was raised for CNO programs with the help of our sponsors, Attorney David K. Porter, Bratt Tree Company, and Matt’s Bar. Thanks to the Events Committee for your hard work in organizing this event!
