Don’t Miss The Booksale at CNO This Weekend The Third Annual Corcoran Booksale will feature a plethora of books, vinyl records, and delicious offerings from the Corcoran Café. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 7) and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday (Oct 8). A fundraiser for CNO, the booksale is one of sixteen annual happenings planned by CNO's Events and Outreach Committee. Cedar and Longfellow Avenue Residents Reconvene Around Crime and Safety Eighteen residents met at CNO on October 2 to discuss concerns about crime issues around 34th Street and Cedar Avenue. A follow-up to the July 26 block meeting organized by CNO, the gathering was advertised to residents of the 33xx and 34xx blocks of Cedar and Longfellow Avenues. Crime Prevention Specialist Karen Skrivseth reported that resident use of 911 has been very fruitful of late, leading to curfew arrests and targeted undercover patrols at chronic addresses by the police. Juveniles Must Be Home By Curfew, Your Calls Can Help Hennepin County Ordinance #16 establishes the times youth ages 17 and under are to be at home. The first ticket is $25, the second is $50, and a third ticket could result in a court date. Youth with a prior record are required to go to court when the first ticket is issued. Call 911 when you suspect violations of the curfew law. Resident calls have been instrumental in enforcement of the curfew ordinance. Age 15-17 Curfew: weekdays by 11 pm, Friday & Saturday by Midnight. Age 12-14: weekdays by 10, Fri/Sat by 11. Under age 12: weekdays by 9, Fri/Sat by 10. |
