Yes, it’s a block meeting, but the whole neighborhood is invited! Reasons to attend Block Talk #2 tonight: (1.) $50 toward a new tree (if you live in Corcoran).

Reasons to host a Block Talk (and more reasons to attend): (1.) Learn to lower your bills and your carbon footprint. (2.) Learn what a carbon footprint is, if you’re not sure. (3.) Strengthened connections between neighbors prevent crime.

October 6 Booksale: Your Help and Donations are Needed

The Events Committee will meet Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 6:00 pm at CNO to continue planning for the October 6 Book Sale. More hands are needed for planning efforts, and more donations of gently used books are welcome. Drop off books at the Midtown YWCA, the Midtown Farmers Market, and the CNO office before the end of September.

Share Food and Community at a Potluck At The Park

Everyone is invited to a potluck dinner on Wednesday Sept. 19, 6:30 at Corcoran Park (in the Park building at 3334 20th Ave S). Bring a dish to share, and also plan to share conversation about the good things that folks are doing to make our neighborhood a better place to live. The potluck event is organized by residents of the Corcoran neighborhood.

Bring Household Hazardous Wastes to Free Drop-Off Event

From September 20 to 22, Hennepin County will accept household hazardous wastes (HHW) at a nearby collection event at 3607 E. 44th Street. Accepted items include fluorescent bulbs, thermostats, electronics, pesticides, solvents, paints, and batteries. Learn more here. As a year-round alternative, the County also provides residents with a permanent HHW drop-off facility at 1400 W. 96th St., Bloomington (612-348-3777).

3rd Precinct Advisory Council Will Meet on Monday

Many citizens of the 3rd Precinct serve on an advisory board to the Minneapolis Police. Everyone is welcome to attend this monthly meeting on the fourth Monday of every month at 6:30 pm. The next meeting is this Monday, September 24. The meeting will include a “State of the Precinct” address by Inspector Lucy Gerold. Meeting location is the Minneapolis Police Department Third Precinct, 3000 Minnehaha Ave S.
