Free graffiti prevention available to Corcoran neighbors Working with the artists, CNO hopes to produce the best graffiti prevention ideas in quantity, and make them available to neighborhood property owners for no cost. Check out the submitted ideas, meet the artists, and find out who wins at the August 15 event at Susan Hensel Gallery (see lead article, above). If you like what you see, you can sign up to install one on your property. A limited number of these will be funded by CNO based on grant monies available and based on level of interest by neighborhood property owners. Contact Eric at CNO with questions. |
Kids and adults are invited to paint their own Mini Mural Artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to paint their own Mini Mural at a free workshop on Thursday, August 20, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Corcoran Park, 3334 20th Ave S. No art skills or supplies are needed, but do wear your painting clothes. Mini murals adorn a number of area garages in the neighborhood. When installed on a garage, Mini Murals: 1.) celebrate youth artwork, 2.) are proven to deter graffiti, and 3.) tell passersby that neighbors care. Interested Corcoran residents can get help with installation on their garage after the event. Take yours home if you like. Six will also be chosen to replace the existing Mini Murals on the CNO building. |

Prevent a burglary at your property with common sense According to the Minneapolis Police Department 3rd precinct, a rash of burglaries has occurred in the greater Corcoran area. In many cases, burglars gained access through an unlocked window or door, or by cutting the screen of an unlocked window. The MPD advises residents to keep doors and windows locked at all times--even when you are home. Do not rely on screens for security. Call 9-1-1 if you observe suspicious activity. |
