Have the candidates for school board heard from you?
Attend a free forum to meet the candidates

The Minneapolis school board shapes important policy on public education, and also awards contracts for major redevelopments that impact neighborhoods, our city, and the larger region. In Corcoran, the school board will request redevelopment proposals very soon for 2225 East Lake, called Minneapolis' largest and best opportunity for Transit Oriented Development by City planners, and home for 7+ seasons of the Midtown Farmers Market. Six blocks to the south, the school board recently closed Folwell school but has yet to announce plans for the building and site.

Voters will elect 5 new school board members at the August 10 primary and November 2 election. Do you know the candidates, and do the candidates understand the impact that school redevelopments will have on our community? Are candidates familiar with the shared neighborhood-city plan for 2225 East Lake, including broad consensus to preserve the Midtown Farmers Market in the redevelopment? What concerns do you have about school choices and student achievement? Meet the candidates and make sure they understand your concerns and your community!

A school board Candidate Forum will take place on Wednesday, July 21 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at Ramsey School, 1 West 49th St (enter at door #1 from the 50th street parking lot). The event, moderated by the League of Women Voters, will feature ten at-large candidates for school board. The audience will be able to submit questions, and there will be time for one-on-one conversation with candidates after the formal event.
