Be part of the 3-Neighborhood Garage Sale on Saturday, June 12

Garage SaleThe largest neighborhood garage sale in Minneapolis returns on Saturday, June 12 from 9:00 to 5:00. The annual Standish, Ericsson, and Corcoran Neighborhood Garage Sale is a community-wide event that extends from Lake Street to the Minnehaha Parkway, and from Cedar Avenue to Hiawatha Avenue.

Individual households will set up their own sales at their homes, and SENA and CNO will take care of publicity, including advertising in the StarTribune, press releases to area newspapers and other media, and inclusion of all participating sales in a sales guide and map. We'll also provide you with a lawn sign for your sale. To be added to the sales guide and map, simply call the SENA office at 721-1601 by Friday, June 4. We will ask you for your address and the type of merchandise being sold at your sale. We'll add this information to the sales guide and map, which will be available from 8:45 to 5:00 on June 12 at neighborhood locations including the Midtown Farmers Market.

Last year's event involved over 175 households, brought approximately $40,000 into the neighborhoods, and recycled thousands of items. The Neighborhood Garage Sale will be held rain or shine. If you aren't able to sell or give away your unwanted, landfill-appropriate items, the annual Green Sweep event on Saturday, June 19 might be your solution...see more below.

Online Corcoran forum seeks members, prepares to launch

Very soon, there may be a new place online for Corcoran residents to discuss neighborhood issues and information. E-Democracy.org, which would host and operate the forum, encourages residents to join now. The Corcoran forum will begin in earnest once 100 members have joined. Corcoran resident Jen Pirrera has stepped up to become the moderator. View the latest topics and register to join here. According to its website, E-Democracy.Org builds online public space in the heart of real democracy and community. To learn more about its mission and work, click here. The Forum is not affiliated with the Corcoran Neighborhood Organization, but CNO encourages neighborhood residents to check it out and participate.

Mark your calendar for annual Green Sweep June 19

Volunteers, food, and junk are needed! Corcoran's annual Green Sweep event (also known as Clean Sweep) will happen on Saturday, June 19 this year. Green Sweep helps Corcoran residents dispose of non-hazardous junk that cannot be reused, sold, or given away. The materials should be left at the alley and marked clearly. Green Sweep volunteers load these materials into trucks and haul them to the Southside Transfer Station. Learn more about getting rid of unwanted stuff and volunteer opportunities here, and please contact Eric at CNO to sign up as a Green Sweep volunteer. This year’s Green Sweep is made possible through a generous gift to CNO by the family and friends of Helen Lander.
