Ready to start a community garden in Corcoran? CNO will host a meeting for residents who’d like to start a community garden or gardening club. We’ve been talking to people about this for several months, and now it’s time to see who’s ready to get their hands dirty (pun intended). If you are interested or would just like to learn more, please join us on Tuesday, April 14 at 6:00 p.m. at CNO, 3451 Cedar Ave S. We’ll be joined by Ila Duntemann from Gardening Matters. If possible, please RVSP to Eric Gustafson at CNO. Minneapolis has community gardens in numerous neighborhoods. Find a map and other good information here. |
EPA fields resident questions about arsenic cleanup The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has selected its final cleanup plan for south Minneapolis properties contaminated with windblown arsenic by the former pesticide plant near Hiawatha and Lake. CNO recently gathered questions from a number of Corcoran residents, and sought answers from EPA project manager Tim Prendiville. For instance: "How can I be sure to garden safely (and eat my vegetables safely) in light of possible soil contamination?"
