Will The Corcoran News Continue?
Your Input and Support Are Needed

Corcoran News Staff, 1986 The Corcoran News is the hand-delivered monthly news source on issues and happenings in the Corcoran neighborhood. After 22 years of publication, The Corcoran News is firmly rooted in our community, but its financial footings are no longer stable. While CNO is committed to sustaining The News in some form, changes are coming. Your neighbors on the CNO Board will decide on the future of The News at their May meeting. If enough residents volunteer to work together on a publishing team, The News might continue as a monthly publication. Otherwise, The Corcoran News may become a quarterly newspaper (4 issues per year) to stay within its shrinking budget. To learn more about volunteering on a publishing team, or to comment on the future of The Corcoran News, please contact Eric at CNO at 612-724-7457 or by e-mail today. Input received by April 16 will be considered by CNO Board members in their decision. Read Full Article.

Dungarvin Adds Accessible Housing in Corcoran

Two new structures at 33rd and Hiawatha add to a group of existing homes for people with physical disabilities. Karin Stockwell of Dungarvin Minnesota says, “Each of these seven homes accommodates four residents. We have accessible housing at numerous locations, but I have a waiting list of 20 for the homes in Corcoran.” Most residents depend on a wheelchair, and enjoy the proximity to light rail, shops, and the Midtown Farmer’s Market. “Compare this with our site in Eden Prairie, where there are no sidewalks.” Karin says the new residents will move in this June.

Contribute to The Advocate and The Corcoran News

Powderhorn Park resident Marie Gardeski is today's "Artist In Residence" for The Neighborhood Advocate. Marie contributed the bright banner image. Both The Neighborhood Advocate and The Corcoran News welcome your contributions of articles, happenings, photos, and images. Advocate articles should be 80 words or less, and preference will be given to community-building efforts in the "greater Corcoran" area. To learn more or discuss a story idea, contact Eric at CNO at 612-724-7457 or by e-mail.
