Corcoran voices add to conversation about foreclosure crisis, solutions
Concerned residents from the Corcoran neighborhood's Housing Committee made an important contribution to recent conversations about Minneapolis' foreclosure crisis, and proposed solutions, at City Hall. This topic was addressed in the March 18 issue of Corcoran's Neighborhood Advocate newsletter, and more recently, in a worthwhile article in the Star Tribune. Find the article, and video of residents' testimony before a committee of the City Council, here.
According to the City's guidelines, the Advantage program aims to rebuild the housing market in key neighborhoods that have experienced higher than normal levels of mortgage foreclosures and a rapid decrease in home ownership. While numerous amendments were made to Advantage based on input from Council Members and the community, the program is still not proposed for use in the Corcoran neighborhood at this time. The amended program now heads to the full City Council for approval.
