Don't Miss the South Minneapolis Housing Fair This Saturday

South Minneapolis Housing Fair Explore the world of local home improvement from 10-3 this Saturday, right here in the Corcoran Neighborhood. Admittance and all seminars are free at this annual event, which takes place at South High School, 3131 19th Ave S. The feature seminar, by Minneapolis architect Michael Anschel, will provide a sneak peak at the new "MN Green Remodeling Guidelines." Anschel will explain how easy remodeling green can be. Green remodeling incorporates creative and energy efficient design to create a healthy and sustainable living environment. Green remodeling also utilizes both new and previously used materials to create a cost effective option for your home remodeling project. More about free seminars.

Help Needed at this Saturday's Housing Fair

CNO still needs volunteers for an 11-1 shift at an information table, and help with fair tear-down from 3-5. Resident Eric Lindberg, who volunteered at last year's Fair, said, "In the two hours at the information table, I said 'hello' to several hundred people. The people-watching opportunities alone made it worthwhile." Contact Eric Gustafson at CNO to volunteer.

Correction: Rental Property Workshop

Last week, this newsletter mistakenly reported the cost of a March 24 rental property workshop as 'free.' (Sorry!) In fact, according to Community Crime Prevention/SAFE's John Baumann, "the $20 registration fee covers the cost of a box meal, a DVD on Housing Court and extensive printed materials." Past attendee Eric Gustafson said, "I attended this workshop last year and found the presenters and materials very worthwhile." Attendees must register by March 16.
