Community seeks permanent home at
2225 E. Lake for Midtown Farmers' Market

2225 E. Lake St.For six seasons, the Midtown Farmers' Market has enjoyed use of the school district property at 2225 E. Lake St, but the district has signaled it will likely sell the property for redevelopment in 2009. In a recent letter, the Market and CNO asked the district and elected leaders to help create a permanent home for the Market at 2225 E. Lake by setting aside a small portion of the 6-acre site as permanent public space. Read the letter to district and elected leaders, and also view the letter enclosures.

Volunteers are invited to support these efforts by attending a February 16 meeting at 6:00 pm at CNO, 3451 Cedar Ave S. This is the regular monthly meeting of Corcoran's Land Use & Transportation Committee, a group that has been working hard on this issue. And if you've never received this newsletter before, please sign up here for future issues to receive news about the Market site and opportunities to get involved.

Through six seasons, the Midtown Farmers’ Market, a project of the Corcoran Neighborhood Organization (CNO), has created over $1,000,000 in small business opportunity and affordable access to healthy, sustainable food for south Minneapolis.

Non-partisan forum to feature City Council candidates

City council members make important decisions about what happens in our community, and all 13 Council seats will be on the 2009 ballot. Before the upcoming March caucuses and endorsing conventions, join the Longfellow Community Council for a non-partisan political forum including Council candidates from our own 9th Ward. This moderated forum will include time at the end for audience questions. 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Saturday, February 21, Matthews Park, 2318 29th Ave.

CNO seeks your ideas for new small grant fund
