Tom Carpenter Named Volunteer of the Year

Over 80 residents enjoyed a meal and program in their honor on Monday night. The Park building was candlelit and buzzing with conversation and the warmth of new connections, contrasting the cold scenery outside. 12 residents were recognized as nominees of Corcoran's Volunteer of the Year award, and Tom Carpenter received the nod for his efforts as a committed coach of youth sports at the Park. Brian Huseby was recognized as the Midtown Farmers' Market's Volunteer of the Year, and Nathan Shaw was recognized with the Lifetime Award. Read Nominee Bios.

Residents Weigh In on City's 'Engagement' Report

Over 50 residents including 5 City Council Members attended a public meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Plaza Verde to comment on the City's recent 'Community Engagement Report' and discuss how the City should involve residents in decision-making and planning processes. Four breakout sessions gathered specific resident concerns, the most notable being the slated end of the NRP in 2009 and the uncertain future of neighborhood organizations.
