Help make a mural (or 7) with neighbors this year On Thursday, February 7, the Youth Murals project will continue with a "big ideas" meeting for new and continuing muralists. Ages 12 through 112 who have 0 to 112 years of art experience are invited to the Corcoran Park building (3334 20th Ave S) to share ideas about where, how, and what our next 7 murals will look like. Anyone and everyone is invited to help design, plan, and paint one or all seven of the murals this year. The meeting starts at 7:00 pm. |
Invent your own project to prevent graffiti this year Bored with the murals project? Create your own! CNO was just awarded 80 gallons of paint by the Valspar Foundation for community projects to prevent or repair graffiti vandalism. Hundreds of colors are available, and the paint is available to all Corcoran residents for graffiti cleanup, garage murals, or creative ideas yet to be invented...contact Eric at CNO to learn more. Corcoran News team gears up to create the March issue The neighborhood News Team will hold its monthly meeting this Monday, February 11, and invites you to join them. Write an article, report on an event, share photos, or contribute to the layout. The meeting happens at 6:30 pm at CNO. |

Environmental Assessment underway for Midtown biomass Residents who submitted comments or a petition signature to the MPCA were recently notified that an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) is now underway. According to staff with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), the assessment is expected to take several months, and a report will then be published online. The MPCA may also schedule a public hearing during the 30-day comment period following publication. According to the MPCA letter, the biomass project may not receive any permits or other approvals, nor can construction begin, while the review is underway. |
Save Feb. 20 to weigh in on neighborhood funding On Feb. 20 at 6:00 pm, CNO invites residents to learn more about, and comment on, the proposed funding "Framework" for neighborhood organizations. While the "Framework" would support neighborhood staff and an “Investment Fund” to address neighborhood and citywide issues, "the funding would be insufficient to sustain staff and programming,” says Amy Arcand, CNO Executive Director.
