34th and Cedar Comes Together to Combat Neighborhood Crime

Twenty-four community members attended a meeting at the Corcoran Neighborhood office last Thursday to discuss crime around 34th and Cedar. Shell gas station owner Adam Ali acknowledged problems around the store but said he is actively working to improve the atmosphere, and has hired a security guard for Thursday through Sunday from 6 to 11 pm. Patrick’s Cabaret Will Award a Round-Trip Tour of Berlin
Patrick’s Cabaret, home to eclectic local talent in music, dance, stories and more at its venue in the Longfellow Neighborhood, is offering a fundraising raffle now through February 17. The grand prize is an all-expense-paid, customized, and guided seven-day trip for two to Berlin. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased in person or online. All proceeds benefit the Cabaret.
Riverview Still a Cheap Date, Will Screen South High Films
The Riverview Theater at 3800 42nd Ave S in the Howe neighborhood still screens great recent films for 3 bucks and pops some of the best corn in town. It's a 10 minute ride on the #23 bus from 38th Street. This Saturday, the work of local students will appear on the Riverview screen for Reel Drama: a collection of short films by South High Students. Event admission is free.
