Learn more about proposed Xcel expansion and weigh-in
Xcel Energy and Phillips Community Energy Cooperative (PCEC) will host upcoming meetings to discuss Xcel's proposed Hiawatha Project, which would construct new electric transmission lines along or near the Midtown Greenway and two new substations, including one near Lake Street and Hiawatha Avenue. Xcel will host open house meetings to share information and gather public feedback on Thursday, January 15 from noon to 2:00 pm and from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In addition, PCEC invites residents to a community discussion about the Hiawatha Project and its impacts, and topics of energy use in our neighborhoods, on Monday, January 12 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. All meetings will take place on the 3rd floor of Plaza Verde, 1516 E. Lake St. |

Give the gift of recognition to an extraordinary neighborhood volunteer! CNO seeks nominations from the community through Friday, January 16. All nominees will be recognized at Corcoran’s annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner, scheduled for the evening of Monday, February 2 (please mark your calendar). The Team will reconvene on Monday, January 12 at 6:30 pm at CNO to begin work on the February issue, and invites all Corcoran neighbors to join the effort. Allina seeks resident input on its Backyard Initiative Allina Hospitals is preparing to launch a "Backyard Initiative" aimed at improving the health and health care of residents in the Corcoran, Powderhorn Park, Central, and Phillips neighborhoods, and will hold a series of meetings to create a community engagement process. Dates include January 8, January 22, and February 5. At meetings will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm at The Cultural Wellness Center, 1527 E. Lake St. |

Torres Ray will host Town Meeting Senator Patricia Torres Ray and Representative Jim Davnie will host a "town hall forum" on Tuesday, January 13 to discuss the 2009 Legislative Session and other issues. 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Corcoran Park, 3334 20th Ave S.
